What Is the Road Accident Fund (RAF)?
The RAF is a public entity established under the Road Accident Fund Act to compensate victims of motor vehicle accidents in South Africa. It steps into the shoes of the wrongdoer and provides cover for:
- Bodily injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident
- Loss of support due to the death of a breadwinner
- Medical expenses related to accident injuries
- Funeral costs for accident-related deaths
Note: The RAF does not cover damage to vehicles or property — only personal injury and related losses.
